Artist Noe Ito focuses on the interpretation and recreation of traditional painting as well as language. From the observation, interpretation, translation, to the tracing of literati paintings, this process involves both conjecture about the original author\u2019s intentions and understanding of artist\u2019s own thoughts. History, reality, language, and the self can all be sought and expressed in such process. At the end of this brief residency, the artist would like to invite everyone to engage in an open exchange.<\/section>

\u65bc\u6211\u800c\u8a00\uff0c\u9019\u662f\u4e00\u6b21\u7d50\u5408\u7814\u7a76\u8207\u5c55\u89bd\u7684\u9577\u671f\u99d0\u7559\u521d\u9ad4\u9a57\u3002\u6211\u5c07\u5728\u91cd\u6176\u9019\u5ea7\u524d\u6cbf\u8207\u50b3\u7d71\u7121\u4f11\u6b62\u4ea4\u878d\u8457\u7684\u57ce\u5e02\u88cf\uff0c\u7e7c\u7e8c\u8457\u6211\u7684\u63cf\u6479\u3002\u800c\u95dc\u65bc\u6b64\u6b21\u7684\u99d0\u7559\u5c55\u89bd\uff0c\u6211\u5c07\u5e36\u4f86\u5e73\u65e5\u88cf\u65bc\u65e5\u672c\u5275\u4f5c\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\uff0c\u8207\u6b64\u6b21\u5728\u91cd\u6176\u99d0\u7559\u5275\u4f5c\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\u4e00\u540c\u5c55\u51fa\u3002<\/span><\/p>

In a series that I have been working on for about a year, I have been drawing that separate the characters of literati paintings and poetry axes and just trace only the pictures. Whenever I stand as a Japanese person, not to mention a literati painting, I have to be aware of the long-standing relationship between China and Japan (so much so that the country’s name, \u65e5\u672c, is also attached to the Chinese perspective). The experience of staying in Chongqing is important to me. I want to keep thinking about these things.<\/span><\/p>

And for me, this is the first experience of a long-term residency with research and exhibition. I will continue tracing something in Chongqing, a city where the latest and the past mix relentlessly. For the exhibition, I\u02bcm bring the works I usually draw in Japan and exhibit them with those works I created in Chongqing.<\/span><\/p>

Furthermore, I intend to systematically consolidate my residency experiences into a comprehensive report, which I shall endeavor to submit for publication consideration in the Journal of Aesthetics and Art History Laboratory. I hope this document will synthesize observations from this long-term residency and the places I’ve visited.<\/span><\/p><\/section><\/section>
