\u7f57\u9a6c\u5c3c\u4e9a\u7684\u571f\u5730\u4e0a\u540c\u6837\u6d41\u6dcc\u7740\u6587\u660e\u7684\u5ef6\u7eed\u3002\u5f53\u827a\u672f\u5bb6Mara\u4ee5\u5c0f\u5e45\u4f5c\u54c1\u4e0e\u5927\u8db3\u7684\u5ca9\u58c1\u76f8\u9047\uff0c\u8fd9\u662f\u4e00\u573a\u8de8\u8d8a\u65f6\u95f4\u4e0e\u7a7a\u95f4\u7684\u5bf9\u8bdd\u3002<\/p>\n

\u5728\u8fd9\u91cc\uff0c\u7269\u88ab\u89c2\u7167\u3002\u77f3\u5934\u7684\u9759\u9ed8\uff0c\u88ab\u753b\u5e03\u7684\u7b14\u89e6\u5524\u9192\uff1b\u4e1c\u65b9\u7684\u610f\u5883\uff0c\u5728\u897f\u65b9\u7684\u89c2\u770b\u4e2d\u663e\u5f71\u3002<\/p>\n

\u2014\u2014\u4f55\u4eac<\/p>\n

It is between the texture of traditional painting and the order of design composition that Mara Cucu\u2013a Romanian visual artist\u2013has developed a way of seeing entirely her own. Revolving around the fundamental language of painting\u2013colour, brushstroke, texture, and impasto\u2013her practice breathes new life into these classic elements. At the same time, derived as they are from design thinking, the geometric and structural sensibilities act like an invisible ruler, quietly measuring the breath and rhythm within the picture plane.<\/p>\n

More importantly, hovering around \u201cobjects\u201d as her work does, Mara explores not only their metaphysical qualities but also the emotional memories attached to them. Interested as she is in how human attachment to objects quietly fades over time, and in how the meanings obscured by everyday life can be reawakened, she invites us to reconsider these silent things. When a stone is shaped by time, or when a rock face is gazed upon by the human heart\u2013then the object ceases to be a mere thing, becoming instead a vessel that carries life, memory, and spiritual aspiration.<\/p>\n

Born out of a one-month residency in Dazu, the works in this exhibition turn Mara Cucu\u2019s gaze toward the rock carvings scattered across the countryside\u2013this against the backdrop of Chongqing, an international metropolis where history, culture, and modernity coexist. Seeing forms in the cliff faces and meaning in those forms, she encounters sculpted rock faces endowed with imagery that have, for over a thousand years, carried the aspirations and spiritual wishes of generations. Through painting, she re-examines the marks worn by time; through colour and texture, she evokes the subtle poetry of daily life.<\/p>\n

On the land of Romania, too, the continuity of civilisation flows. So when the artist, with her small-scale works, encounters the rock faces of Dazu, what unfolds is a dialogue across both time and space.<\/p>\n

Here, then, are objects contemplated. The silence of stone, awakened by the brushstroke on canvas. And Eastern imagery, emerging through Western eyes.<\/p>\n

\u5c55\u89c8\u300a\u5ca9\u58c1\u4e4b\u95f4\uff1a\u89c2\u7167\u4e0e\u7269\u300b\u5448\u73b0\u4e86\u4e00\u7cfb\u5217\u53d6\u81ea\u5f53\u5730\u4eba\u8033\u719f\u80fd\u8be6\u4e4b\u5730\u3001\u5374\u7ecf\u7531\u5f02\u4e61\u4eba\u76ee\u5149\u51dd\u89c6\u800c\u5f97\u7684\u7ec6\u8282\u3002\u6211\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\u6838\u5fc3\uff0c\u662f\u4e00\u7ec4\u53d7\u5230\u4f5b\u6559\u610f\u8c61\u4e0e\u7cbe\u795e\u6df1\u6df1\u542f\u53d1\u7684\u6709\u673a\u5f62\u4f53\u7684\u96d5\u5851\u5f0f\u7ed8\u753b\u3002<\/p>\n

\u5728\u7814\u7a76\u5927\u8db3\u77f3\u523b\u4e4b\u521d\uff0c\u6211\u66fe\u4ee5\u4e3a\u4f1a\u9047\u89c1\u4e0e\u81ea\u5df1\u6587\u5316\u6839\u57fa\u622a\u7136\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u4e1c\u897f\u2014\u2014\u4e2d\u4e16\u7eaa\u827a\u672f\u4e0e\u4fe1\u4ef0\u4e2d\u90a3\u4e9b\u4e0d\u5bfb\u5e38\u7684\u8868\u8fbe\u65b9\u5f0f\u3002\u51fa\u4e4e\u610f\u6599\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u6211\u53d1\u73b0\u5f7c\u6b64\u4e4b\u95f4\u7adf\u6709\u5982\u6b64\u591a\u7684\u5171\u901a\u4e4b\u5904\u3002\u7136\u800c\uff0c\u90a3\u4e9b\u72ec\u7279\u7684\u5730\u57df\u98ce\u8c8c\u5bf9\u6211\u8fd9\u6837\u7684\u5916\u6765\u8005\u800c\u8a00\uff0c\u4f9d\u7136\u4ee4\u4eba\u5c4f\u606f\uff1a\u4f5b\u9640\u5706\u6da6\u800c\u4eb2\u5207\u7684\u9762\u5e9e\uff0c\u5e26\u7740\u5b81\u9759\u7684\u5fae\u7b11\uff0c\u7ec6\u817b\u7684\u773c\u7738\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u90a3\u4e9b\u6807\u5fd7\u6027\u7684\u3001\u60a0\u957f\u5782\u4e0b\u7684\u8033\u5782\u3002<\/p>\n

\u6700\u6253\u52a8\u6211\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u8fd9\u53e4\u8001\u7684\u827a\u672f\u7adf\u5982\u6b64\u201c\u4eba\u6027\u5316\u201d\uff0c\u5e76\u4e14\u5728\u4eca\u5929\u8fd9\u4e2a\u98de\u901f\u8fd0\u8f6c\u7684\u4e16\u754c\u4e2d\u4f9d\u7136\u5bcc\u6709\u751f\u547d\u529b\u3002\u6211\u770b\u5230\u4e86\u5927\u91cf\u5bf9\u65e5\u5e38\u751f\u6d3b\u4e0e\u6734\u7d20\u4e4b\u7f8e\u7684\u63cf\u7ed8\u3002<\/p>\n

\u901a\u8fc7\u8fd9\u4e9b\u4f5c\u54c1\uff0c\u6211\u60f3\u6355\u6349\u77f3\u523b\u539f\u4f5c\u4e2d\u90a3\u4efd\u51dd\u795e\u9759\u6c14\u7684\u6c1b\u56f4\u4e0e\u7075\u6027\u7684\u97f3\u8c03\u3002\u90a3\u795e\u5723\u7684\u5149\u8f89\u4e0e\u5b83\u4eec\u6563\u53d1\u51fa\u7684\u9759\u8c27\u611f\uff0c\u6b63\u662f\u6211\u4f5c\u54c1\u771f\u6b63\u7684\u7cbe\u9ad3\u6240\u5728\u3002\u8fd9\u662f\u4e00\u4efd\u9080\u8bf7\uff1a\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u5b89\u9759\u4e0b\u6765\uff0c\u6c89\u601d\uff0c\u6b65\u5165\u4e0e\u795e\u5723\u7684\u5bf9\u8bdd\u2014\u2014\u90a3\u662f\u4e00\u79cd\u76db\u5927\uff0c\u5374\u9996\u5148\u8ba9\u4eba\u611f\u5230\u6e29\u6696\u7684\u62e5\u62b1\u3002<\/p>\n

The exhibition\u00a0Between Rock and Mind: Contemplation with Objects\u00a0brings to light a series of details from places well-known to locals, now seen through the eyes of a foreigner. At the heart of my work lies a collection of organic sculptures, deeply inspired by the imagery and spirit of Buddhism.<\/p>\n

While researching the Dazu Rock Carvings, I expected to find something completely different from my own roots, unusual approaches of medieval art and faith. To my surprise, I discovered just how much we actually have in common. Still, the unique local features are breathtaking for an outsider like me: the Buddha\u2019s round, friendly face with its peaceful smile, the delicate eyes, and those iconic, elongated earlobes.<\/p>\n

What struck me most was how \u201chuman\u201d this ancient art feels, and how relevant it remains even in today\u2019s fast-paced world. I found so many depictions of everyday life and the simple beauty of routine.<\/p>\n

Through these works, I wanted to capture the contemplative air and the spiritual note of the original carvings. That divine light and the sense of stillness they radiate are the true essence of my pieces. It is an invitation to quiet down, to reflect, and to step into a dialogue with the divine, a grandeur that feels, above all, like a warm welcome.<\/p>\n

Regarding her academic background, Mara is currently a PhD student in Visual Arts at the University of Art and Design (UAD) in Cluj-Napoca, a program she began in 2025. The name of the project “KENOPSIA, The eeriness of places left behind” \u2013 a personal universe that corroborates the feelings of unease and mystery of several people. This bizarre phenomenon not only touches sensitive chords of human experience, but also creates a deep connection between individuals, giving them the opportunity to explore and share this dimension.<\/p>\n

The project refers to familiar objects located in immaterial and timeless spaces. The space without depth, without volume, without context focuses on one thing: the abandoned object.<\/p>\n

This project explores both the object and the bizarre space it is located in. During this academic journey, I have studied a series of theoretical works, in order to deepen the object-space relationship, as well as other related philosophical ideas. Among them we mention: \u201cThe Poetics of Space\u201d by Gaston Bachelard, \u201cThe Production of Space\u201d by Henri Lefebvre and \u201cObject-Oriented Ontology: A New Theory of Everything\u201d by Graham Harman.<\/p>\n

The Big Empty is an art project that presents a series of works featuring singular objects in an impalpable space, beyond the reach of our senses. Through this project, I want to create an oppressive, cold atmosphere that evokes a sense of abandonment, loneliness, and oblivion.<\/p>\n

Anguish and abandonment are ever-present in our lives; they are familiar states. But what becomes of these feelings when they are transposed into an unknown, intangible, and uncontrollable space? This question was the catalyst for the project, driving the search for an answer\u2014or at least the sensation of having found one.<\/p>\n

Artistic project carried out in the second year of the Bachelor’s degree, within an Erasmus+ mobility in Rome, Italy (2020-2021).<\/p>\n

My role in this project consisted of creating illustrations on specific themes of 2020 \u2013 the pandemic caused by the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) \u2013 which were later published in the book by the author Cinzia Pierantonelli, “Pipistrelli e Gabbiani”.<\/p>\n

The works explore various dimensions of the pandemic, which we have all experienced: overcrowded hospitals, important events held exclusively online, alienation and loneliness.<\/p>\n

This year, we are launching the project “Chongqing Art Residency”, and welcome artists, writers, video content creators, cultural practitioners, and other creative individuals from around the world who have a strong interest in Chongqing city and in Chinese culture to join us. Participants will be provided with comfortable living quarters, creative workspaces, opportunities for cultural exchange, and platforms for showcasing their work.<\/p>\n
