\u7956\u8ce2\u662f\u5341\u65b9\u85dd\u8853\u4e2d\u5fc3\u8207\u6fb3\u9580\u85dd\u8853\u6a5f\u69cb\u201c\u725b\u623f\u5009\u5eab\u201d\u5e38\u614b\u5316\u96d9\u5411\u99d0\u7559\u4ea4\u63db\u8a08\u5283\u4e2d\uff0c\u7b2c\u4e00\u4f4d\u4f86\u5230\u91cd\u6176\u7684\u6fb3\u9580\u85dd\u8853\u5bb6\uff0c\u5e36\u8457\u7d50\u69cb\u4e3b\u7fa9\u8996\u89d2\u548c\u4e00\u5343\u591a\u516c\u91cc\u4ee5\u5916\u7684\u6d77\u6d0b\u6c23\u606f\u3002<\/p>\n

Joein isthe first Macau artist to come to Chongqing in the artist-in-residence exchangeprogram between Dimensions Art Center and Post-Ox Warehouse, and she carries astructuralist perspective and an oceanic sense from more than a thousandkilometers away.<\/p>\n

Time is tooshort to study in depth what the ideographic system of \u2018Chongqing\u2019 is, and whatkind of cultural significance is meant by \u2018the City of Mountain\u2019. The artistsimply borrows the six sense concepts of \u2018eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body andmind\u2019 in Buddhism to directly experience and establish mutual relationshipsthrough a series of behaviors in the process. The relationship is meaning, theaction is expression. And here comes the final \u2018simple Body Exercise\u2019.<\/p>\n

the artist caught a phrase from the local dialect he heard in a teahouse in Chongqing, and wrote it on the cover of A Lover’s Discourse Fragments<\/p>\n

Theseworks present several different perspectives for the artist to feel the\u2018local-ness\u2019: presenting the dilemma of language communication with localpeople and the beautiful misunderstanding of semantics in the process oftransmission (imitating friends speaking and dictating in a tea-house); Ways torespond to communication dilemmas (reading and water); or like Beuys\u2019s\u00a0Howto Explain Pictures to a Dead Hare,\u00a0it shows the huge meaning gapbetween text, language, ritual and instinct (reading and feeding the cat); Fromdifferent perspectives such as smell, taste, vision, and body sense to start aslice by slice capture of unfamiliar places (fruits, breath, Walking on the stairs and red),and try to establish some kind of indirect interaction with the audience (\u2018sendthe artist some sweets\u2019 and \u2018people will be rewarded for cuteness andkindness\u2019); these works even derived a series of cute and serious methods ofaction.<\/p>\n

When these simple physical actions are connected because of Joein\u2019sresidency, in the context of the time and space between the mountains ofChongqing and the seas of Macau, the exhibition presents a romantic state ofdeconstruction, which is in response to the linguistic book by Roland Barthescited in the works by Joein– A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments.<\/p>\n

\u54f2\u5b78\u5bb6\u6642\u5e38\u63a2\u554f\u751f\u547d\u7684\u610f\u7fa9?\u82e5\u751f\u6d3b\u672c\u7121\u610f\u7fa9\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u8a72\u7a4d\u6975\u524d\u884c\u6216\u662f\u8eba\u5e73\u5c0d\u6297?\u9748\u9b42\u63a2\u7d22\u65e2\u7121\u76e1\u4e5f\u6c92\u6709\u7b54\u6848\uff0c\u77e5\u9053\u537b\u9084\u662f\u4e0d\u81ea\u89ba\u7684\u6c89\u9189\u5176\u4e2d\uff0c\u5c0d\u672a\u4f86\u7684\u4e0d\u78ba\u5b9a\u8207\u751f\u547d\u8f03\u52c1\u90fd\u6210\u4e86\u6bd2\u766e\uff0c\u61fc\u6050\u8513\u5ef6\uff0c\u614c\u4e82\u4e0d\u5b89\u3002<\/p>\n

Philosophers often ask about the meaning oflife? If life is meaningless, should we actively move forward or confront it bylying down? Soul exploration is endless and clueless, we know it but stillunconsciously indulge in it. The uncertainty of the future and theconfrontation with life have become an addiction, we let the fear spread andlet the panic sink.<\/p>\n

\u9748\u9b42\u8207\u8eab\u9ad4\u5169\u8005\u529f\u80fd\u6709\u7570\uff0c\u6211\u7fd2\u6163\u628a\u9748\u9b42\u8207\u8eab\u9ad4\u5408\u7a31\u70ba\u300c\u6211\u5011\u300d\u3002\u8981\u662f\u80fd\u66ab\u5225\u9748\u9b42\u601d\u8003\u7684\u6f29\u6e26\uff0c\u628a\u6642\u9593\u4ea4\u7d66\u8eab\u9ad4\u5e36\u9818\uff0c\u4ee5\u773c\u8033\u9f3b\u820c\u8eab\u610f\u70ba\u57fa\u790e\u7684\u300a\u7c21\u55ae\u8eab\u9ad4\u904b\u52d5\u300b\uff0c\u4f86\u56de\u5230\u81ea\u8eab\u8207\u516d\u6839\u7684\u95dc\u4fc2\u3002<\/p>\n

I differentiate the functions of the bodyand soul. I used to name the soul and the body \u2018we\u2019 together. If I cantemporarily leave the swirl of my soul, and give time to the body to lead,the\u00a0simple Body\u00a0Exercise\u00a0based on the eyes, ears, nose, tongue and bodywill guide me to return to the relationship between myself and the six roots.<\/p>\n

Joein\u00a0graduated from Macao Polytechnic Institute, majored in design. She started art practice during her college years. Her works have been exhibited in regions as Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, as well as South Korea, and other countries. She has won gold, silver and bronze awards for poster design and book design at A Design & Competition (the world’s leading international annual design competition) and the Macao Design Biennale.<\/section>\n
