About Residency:
The plan consists of exploring and engaging with the city and its inhabitants as a symbolic territory, paying attention to the particularities of the convergence between the urban environment, the mountain, and the river, as well as the “8D cyberpunk” character often attributed to Chongqing. This initial approach will allow for the gathering of sensitive material to inform the development of the artistic practice.
The intention is to continue investigating, as in the project Afluente (2024–2025), the connections between Bashu culture and contemporary culture, taking the mountain and the river as central axes, from a contemporary artistic perspective.
Natheim proposes to work through photographic installation, approaching the mountain and its tributaries from a conceptual and poetic perspective.Charly Fargas proposes to develop experimental video art and writing, exploring the sensory as a central axis.
While there is a work plan and possible project directions, the approach remains open to what the city of Chongqing, the residency, and its people may inspire and contribute throughout the process.
