1. Open Call
Dimensions Art Center (DAC) , Milgotas and Jiezishan Art Center jointly launch the Chongqing Art Residency program, open for applications from artists, writers, video creators, and others worldwide. The residency duration can range from half a month to several months. We will provide artists with comfortable living quarters, creative workspaces, opportunities for cultural exchange, and platforms for showcasing their work.
2. Purposes and Objectives
We aim to build a platform for artistic dialogue connecting China and the world, promote cross-cultural creation with Chongqing’s distinctive characteristics and deep in-situ experience, and facilitate interaction between international creators and Chongqing’s urban landscape, natural ecology, and community culture.
3. Chongqing Characteristics
Chongqing is China’s most recognizable “cyberpunk city,” blending unique mountain terrain, riverside scenery, hotpot culture, historical relics, and futuristic skylines. It is both a visual feast and a fertile ground for inspiration.





4. What We Offer
Available Residency Spaces:
Dimensions Art Center & Milgotas Chongqing (Located in downtown Chongqing, China):
Provides independent studios (integrated living and workspace), shared bathrooms and showers, a kitchen, Milgotas Bookstore, and exhibition halls.






Jiezishan Art Center (Located in the world cultural heritage Dazu Rock Carvings cultural area):
Provides private living quarters with en-suite bathroom and shower, creative exchange spaces, and exhibition halls.






Local Support and Services:
- Local police accommodation registration
- Assistance with creative materials and technical support
- Chongqing cultural experience guide and recommendations
- Opportunities to connect with local artists, curators, and institutions
- Opportunity to hold a solo or group exhibition at DAC or partner venues
- Participation in local cultural activities and collaboration projects with institutions and schools
5. Requirements and Selection Criteria
Open to visual artists, writers, musicians, performers, video content creators, and interdisciplinary creators.
Applicants should have a strong interest in Chinese culture and Chongqing’s regional characteristics, with the intention to incorporate local elements into their work.
Special attention will be given to creators focusing on the program’s theme or those skilled in using video media for dissemination.
6. How to Apply
Please send the following materials to: info@chongqingdac.org. Use the email subject line: “Chongqing Art Residency + Your Name”. The email body must include:
1) A motivation letter explaining your reasons for applying and how this residency could benefit your creative development.
2) A description of the artistic project you plan to undertake during the residency, detailing how you intend to explore cultural exchange between China and other parts of the world.
3) Portfolio and a list of previous exhibitions.
4) Your preferred base, time, and duration of the residency.
7. Cost
1000 USD per month (excluding airfare and medical insurance). A minimum stay of half a month is required at the chosen base.
We can provide a formal invitation letter and assist with applying for funding and visa procedures.
