羅斯·馬丁(艾略特·馬丁Eliott Martin)的作品融合了漫畫、書籍設計、繪畫和雕塑。目前他正在研究一個主題:“我們如何將房屋和城市變成迷宮”。他的創作圍繞著在迷宮般的建築中迷失的感受展開。
Rose Martin’s work gathers comics, edition, painting and sculpture. Currently working on a thesis about « how we transform houses and cities into mazes », their projects develop the feeling of being lost in labyrinthine architectures.
通過一種詩意的、扭曲如迷宮般的敘事方式,他探索了時間的流動性,以及日常建築中那些過渡空間的奇異感受。
Through a poetic, twisting and maze-like storytelling, they explore the fluidity of time and the disturbing aspects of liminal spaces in everyday architecture.
羅斯出生在法國普瓦捷。他曾在米盧斯藝術學院(HEAR)學習了兩年繪畫和攝影,之後又在昂古萊姆學習了三年,專注於漫畫、書籍設計和敘事創作,並於2024年畢業。
Born in Poitiers, France, Rose studied drawing, painting and photography during 2 years in the art school of Mulhouse (HEAR) then 3 years in Angoulême where they graduated in 2024 for their comic, edition and storytelling works.
關於本次駐留|About Residency:
在十方藝術中心駐留期間,我想創作一個以重慶為背景的故事,甚至讓重慶這座城市成為故事的主角。我打算對這座城市的城市環境進行改造和扭曲,讓它變得比現在更像一座迷宮。我希望讓觀眾感受到我們穿越重慶這樣的“巨構城市”時所體驗到的情緒。這個創作也將融入我的論文研究。
我的作品很可能會以漫畫的形式呈現,採用非線性敘事,著重描繪城市景觀和錯綜複雜的建築群。我通常使用石墨鉛筆和彩色鉛筆創作,但形式也可能變化。我喜歡在故事中變換質感,營造出環境不斷演變的氛圍。
我還有一個想法,是創作一系列描繪迷宮的巨大畫作,某種程度上記錄我在重慶街頭遊蕩的肖像。但我有意不去預先研究這座城市,這樣我才能真正親身體驗當地的生活,避免被之前看到或學到的東西影響。因此,我的項目可能會有很大的變化,我允許自己完全推翻重來。
During my time at DAC, I want to work on a narration that takes place in Chongqing or even puts the city in the front row by being the main character of the story. I want to transform and disturb the urban environment of the city to make it even more labyrinthine than it already is. I would like to make the audience feel the emotions that we experience when we go through a“megastructure”city like Chongqing. This work will fit in my researches for my thesis.
My work will probably take the form of a comic with a non-linear storytelling that focuses on the urban landscapes and the tangled masses of constructions. I usually work with a graphite and coloured pencils but it can evolve. I like to vary the textures in my stories to give the feeling of constant evolution of the environment.
I also have the idea of a series of huge paintings of labyrinths, kind representing a portrait of my wandering in the streets of Chongqing. But I consciously didn’t do researches on the city so that I could really discover what it is like to live there by myself, and so as to not be influenced by what I saw and learned before I got there. So my projects can really evolve a lot and I give myself permission to completely change everything.
